How we handle your information

You send us medical records before you have met us. This page sets out exactly what we collect, what we do with it, who sees it and what you can ask us to do about it.

Last updated: October 12, 2026

At Orthopedic Surgeries Mexico, we are committed to protecting the privacy and security of our patients' personal and medical information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard your information when you visit our website www.orthopedicsurgeriesmexico.com, use our services, or contact our team.

By using our website or services, you consent to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with them, please do not use our services.

1. Information we collect

We collect several types of information in order to assess your case and care for you:

Personal information

  • Full name, date of birth and sex
  • Contact details: email, phone number and postal address
  • Nationality and preferred language
  • Travel information for international patients

Medical information

  • Medical history, current medication and allergies
  • Previous orthopedic surgery and treatments already tried
  • X-rays, MRI scans and other imaging you send for pre-consultation
  • Laboratory results and the assessments our surgeons make from them
  • Lifestyle information relevant to surgical risk, such as smoking and alcohol use

Technical information

  • Your IP address and browser type, recorded in our hosting provider's server logs
  • The same technical data is received by Google when your browser loads the fonts this site uses, which are served by Google Fonts

We do not run analytics software, advertising pixels or any other tracking on this website. We therefore have no record of which pages you read.

2. How we use your information

  • Medical evaluation: to assess whether a procedure is appropriate for you and to prepare a treatment plan and a written quote
  • Communication: to answer your questions, arrange consultations and follow you up after surgery
  • Service improvement: to improve our website, our packages and the care we provide
  • Legal compliance: to meet applicable law, including medical record-keeping obligations
  • Marketing: with your consent only, to send information about our services. You can withdraw that consent at any time

3. Sharing your information

We treat your information with the strictest confidentiality. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We share it only in these circumstances:

  • With our medical team: the surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and coordinators directly involved in your care
  • With service providers: the partner hospital, the hotel and the transport services, strictly to the extent your treatment package requires
  • With legal authorities: when required by law, by court order, or to protect our legal rights
  • With your explicit consent: for any other purpose

4. Data security

We apply industry-standard measures to protect your information:

  • Encrypted transmission between your browser and this website (SSL/TLS)
  • Storage of medical records in line with Mexican standard NOM-024-SSA3-2010 on electronic health records
  • Access restricted to authorised personnel
  • Regular review of our security practices and staff training

Despite these measures, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Your rights

Under Mexico's Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties, and under the GDPR where it applies to you, you have the right to:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification: have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected
  • Erasure: request deletion of your data, subject to the retention periods the law imposes on medical records
  • Restriction: ask us to limit how we process your data
  • Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Objection: object to certain processing, including marketing communications
  • Withdrawal of consent: at any time, without affecting processing already carried out lawfully

To exercise any of these rights, write to contact@orthopedicsurgeriesmexico.com.

6. Cookies and tracking technologies

This website sets no cookies. It carries no analytics, no advertising pixels and no third-party tracking scripts.

Two things are worth knowing all the same:

  • Your pre-consultation form is saved in your own browser. So that you do not lose a long form, your answers are stored locally on your device as you fill them in. They stay there until you submit the form or clear your browser data, and they are not sent to us until you press send.
  • Fonts are loaded from Google. Displaying this site requires your browser to request font files from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address. We receive nothing from that exchange.

7. Data retention

  • Medical records: kept for at least five years after your last treatment, as Mexican law requires
  • Enquiries without treatment: kept for up to two years, then deleted
  • Marketing data: kept until you withdraw your consent

8. International transfers

We treat patients from the United States, Canada and elsewhere, so your information is transferred to and processed in Mexico, where we and our hospital partners operate. We ensure that any such transfer complies with applicable data protection law and with appropriate safeguards.

9. Children's privacy

Our services are not directed to people under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have collected such data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. Any update is published on this page with a revised date at the top. We encourage you to review it from time to time.
