If something goes wrong, we take responsibility
Every OSM package includes medical tourism insurance covering complications, the treatment they require, and the extra nights and flight changes that follow. It is part of the price, not an upsell.
The honest version of the risk
Any surgery carries risk, at home or abroad. What changes when you travel is not the likelihood of a complication — it is the distance between you and the team that operated on you if one occurs. That distance is the real objection to medical tourism, and it deserves a real answer rather than reassurance.
Ours has two parts. First, the surgeon who operates on you remains reachable directly after you fly home — not a coordinator, not a call centre. Second, the financial consequence of a complication is insured, so that the decision about whether to treat it is never a decision about whether you can afford to.
OSM is the only organisation in Mexico that includes this medical tourism insurance in the package price.
What the coverage includes
Complications are rare. This is what happens if you are the exception.
-
Complications after surgery
Problems with sutures, staples or wound healing in the days following your procedure.
-
Diagnostic tests and treatment
The investigations and care needed to address a complication, including readmission to hospital where the situation calls for it.
-
An extended stay
Additional hotel nights if your time in Mexico has to be prolonged beyond the planned week.
-
Changing your flight
Airline change fees when your return date has to move for medical reasons.
What it does not do
It is not unlimited, and pretending otherwise would defeat the purpose of publishing this page. The extent of coverage depends on your medical condition, and specific limitations apply to every policy.
This is why we go through the policy during your video consultation rather than handing you a document at the airport. You should know what is covered, what is excluded and where the limits sit before you decide to travel — and if the answer does not satisfy you, that is a reason not to come.
Why the follow-up matters as much as the insurance
Most complications are caught early or not at all. During your week in Mexico City a physician visits your hotel room six days a week — checking the wound, changing dressings, watching for the early signs that something is not tracking as it should. That is not hospitality. It is the part of the protocol that catches problems while they are still small.
After you fly home, you keep direct contact with your surgeon. Send a photograph of the wound, ask about a symptom, get an answer from the person who performed the operation.
Ask us exactly what your policy would cover
Coverage varies with your medical condition, and limitations apply. During your video consultation we go through the policy line by line, before you commit to anything.
